PRESS RELEASE: Development criteria for nationwide DAB+ networks were met
Prague, 9 September 2025 – CTU verified compliance with the development criteria for nationwide DAB+ networks, as required under the auction conditions. Holders of block allocations for a nationwide networks were required, within 18 months of the date on which the decision granting the block allocation entered into legal force, to ensure coverage of at least 50 % of the population of the Czech Republic and of at least 50 % of the length of motorways. Both operators of nationwide networks have not only met this initial development criterion, but have already, more than one year ahead of schedule, fulfilled the second development criterion—ensuring coverage of at least 80 % of the population of the Czech Republic and of at least 80 % of motorway length.
The DAB+ frequency auction was held at the turn of 2023 and 2024 and concluded successfully. All available block allocations were sold, and decisions on granting them were issued in January and February 2024. The total price for all auction blocks amounted to CZK 79,325,000.
