PRESS RELEASE: Spectrum Management Strategy approved by the Government
Prague, 12 May 2025: New Spectrum Management Strategy was approved by the Government. CTU published the document here: https://ctu.gov.cz/strategie-spravy-radioveho-spektra.
The strategy is built on the pillars of making new frequency bands available, creating conditions for investment and innovation, implementing tools for efficient spectrum usage and developing expertise in spectrum management. The long-term vision of the Strategy is to promote the societal benefits of radio spectrum utilization. These include in particular fostering the availability of ECN connectivity, including connectivity via public mobile networks and local or regional access networks, radio and television broadcasting distribution networks, and the availability of radio frequencies for a variety of users and applications, ranging from licence-exempt use (also for consumer electronic devices) to private and industrial networks.
‘In the next steps, later this year we will prepare conditions for frequencies to improve DVB-T2 reception, open the upper part of the 26 GHz band for new modern services. Suitable radio frequencies will be prepared for the new state crisis communication mechanisms, with the Ministry of the Interior,’ said Marek Ebert, Chairman of the CTU Council.
At the same time, the CTU was ordered to submit to the government by 30 April 2026 an evaluation report on the implementation of the Strategy including, among other things, conditions for the entire 26 GHz band.
