ECC outputs on radio-amateur service, satellite SRD, railway radiocommunications and expanding cooperation with associations

In June, the ECC adopted Decision ECC (25)01 on the protection of GNSS, including Galileo, when co-existing with radio-amateur services. The technical conditions are the result of complex negotiations in which the Czech Republic actively participated, and which resulted in the adoption of Recommendation ITU-R M.2164, from which the conditions were transferred to the ECC Decision. The conditions for the operation of the radio amateur service will be transferred at the national level to Decree No. 156/2005 Coll.

Following the development of communications of portable devices with satellites, the ECC also adopted ECC Decision (25)02 on low power devices communicating with satellites in the 862-870 MHz band (SRD bands). The conditions will be implemented through a general authorisation.

Another contribution of the ECC to harmonisation is the adoption of the CEPT Report 90, which was developed on the basis of an EC mandate to create uniform conditions for the transition of GSM-R narrowband railway communications to more technologically advanced LTE and 5G NR systems with 3 MHz channels. As a follow-up, the EC will develop an amendment to Implementing Decision (EU)2021/1730 on the harmonised use of the paired frequency bands 874.4-880.0 MHz and 919.4-925.0 MHz and of the unpaired frequency band 1900-1910 MHz for Railway Mobile Radio.

Other outcomes of the meeting include the establishment of closer cooperation with the one6G Association, which deals with the development, testing and development of 6G, and the 450 MHz Association involved in the 3GPP project to harmonise the 380-470 MHz bands for mobile networks.
