ČTÚ

Government Resolution No. 394 of 28 May 2025 (its text is available here – Czech only) proposed that CTU becomes the market surveillance authority under the AIA.

CTU can currently only exercise those competences under the AIA regulation that do not interfere with the rights and obligations of entities, as the relevant adaptation law is still in the legislative process.

The main activities of the supervisory authority are as follows:

  • Inspections of AI system providers – verifying compliance with the AIA, imposing corrective measures.
  • Receiving complaints about specific AI systems.
  • Enforcement of obligations and imposing sanctions for non-compliance.
  • Communication with EU peer supervisory authorities and the European Commission – ensuring a consistent approach to supervision.
  • Capacity building.
  • Authorising the placing on the market of high-risk AI systems without assessment
  • Approval of real-world testing and testing plans.
  • Cooperation with the EC on the compliance assessment of general AI systems.
  • Testing AI systems at the request of fundamental rights authorities.
