Monitoring report No. 8/2023: DAB+ frequency auction will take place in four phases, high penalties for failure to include OKU code in the contract

Prague, 22 August 2023 - In the August monitoring report we inform about the announcement of the tender for the frequencies for commercial digital radio DAB+. In our regular consumer column, we looked at the OKU code issue and new sanctioning options. We also provide an overview of complaints and queries in electronic communications and postal services.

CTU has launched a tender for DAB+ networks, more information can be found on our website. Applicants can submit applications for block allocations by 31 August 2023; a cash guarantee is required by the same deadline. The auction itself is scheduled to take place during October and will take place in four auction phases, in which the auction blocks will be allocated successively among the bidders.

For contracts concluded after 1 April 2020, the OKU code for porting the number or switching the internet access service provider is a mandatory part of the contract concluded between the subscriber and the provider. Failure to disclose may now be punishable by a heavy fine, see page 5. And if you have concluded a contract before? You can find the code on the contract addendum, or the provider may have sent it to you in another way (e.g. by SMS or email), which is also the case with prepaid cards. In addition to the above, some OKU providers also make the code available via self-service.
