PRESS RELEASE: CTU encourages postal services and ECS providers during current critical situation

Prague, 20 March 2020 – The Czech Telecommunication Office appreciates the intensive efforts of undertakings in the electronic communications and postal services sectors who are taking all measures to ensure the availability of their services in a maximum possible range and quality during this severe situation.

“CTU appreciates the work of the staff in field, whether they are employees of the Czech Post or operators’ technicians, who are doing their best to solve daily needs of their customers,” says Ms. Hana Továrková, the CTU Council Chair.

CTU agents communicate with undertakings from the electronic communications and postal services sector, who ensure the critical elements of state infrastructure. CTU then pass their needs on the Central Emergency Board via the Ministry of Industry and Trade and informs them about the Board decision.

“We are regularly informed about the situation and difficulties with which the undertakings must deal, we know about the measures taken and we try to help them,” adds Ms. Továrková.

CTU also supported the intention of mobile operators to provide their customers with free access to selected governmental websites in order to promote availability of all current information about measures related to COVID-19.

CTU also welcomed the joint statement from the European Commission and BEREC on net neutrality during the current critical period.
