PRESS RELEASE: European Commission cleared the notification of reimbursement of net costs to Česká pošta
Prague, 25 July 2025 – Today, the European Commission issued a decision on the reimbursement of net costs to the postal licence holder, Česká pošta, for the fulfilment of the obligation to provide universal services in the period 2025-2029.
Following a notification by the Czech Republic, the Commission has assessed the compatibility of this reimbursement representing public aid with EU rules and the internal market, and concluded that the reimbursement is in line with these rules.
The issuance of this Decision will enable CTU to initiate proceedings on the basis of a request from Česká pošta for reimbursement of the net costs, or preliminary net costs, incurred during the period in question as a result of the fulfilment of the imposed obligation to ensure the availability of universal services throughout the territory of the Czech Republic.
