Monthly Monitoring Report 06/2026: We are opening the 26 GHz band; the volume of basic postal services is decreasing; summer travel brings concerns about the amount of telephone expenses

Prague, 25 June 2026 – In the June Monitoring Report, we summarize detailed information on the opening of the 26 GHz band, provide information on the Report on the Fulfillment of the Postal License Holder’s Obligations, and advise consumers on how to avoid high telephone costs while traveling and how to submit a billing complaint, if necessary.

CTU opens 26 GHz band

The Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU) is launching a new phase of the use of high-frequency radio spectrum in the 26 GHz band. From 1 July 2026, this band will be opened for the operation of modern wireless networks, in particular 5G networks, fixed wireless access networks (FWA) and local or industrial networks intended, for example, for production sites or technology campuses. Report on the fulfilment of the postal licence holder’s obligations

In its Summary Report on the fulfilment of  the postal licence holders’ obligations, the Czech Telecommunication Office notes that 2025 was another period of continued decline in the volume of basic postal services in the Czech Republic. This trend is long-term and builds on developments in previous years, with the continued digitalisation of communication and the development of alternative services being the main cause. When traveling, pay attention to the prevention of high costs and billing  

We recommend to all customers careful prevention of increased expenses for telecommunication services in connection with travel and careful control of billing upon return. See more on page 7 of the Monitoring Report.
