The government passed a regulation on the law on critical infrastructure. Electronic communications providers will also be affected by the new obligations.

On 18 July 2026, Government Regulation No 127/2026 (Czech only) on basic services and materiality criteria under the Critical Infrastructure Act entered into force, setting out basic services and criteria for the identification of critical infrastructure entities. The new obligations also apply to the electronic communications sector, in which the Czech Telecommunication Office is the central administrative authority.

Providers of basic services in electronic communications who, based on their own assessment, meet the established materiality criteria, are obliged to provide the CTU with the information necessary for their possible designation as a critical infrastructure entity.

The information will be provided through the Critical Infrastructure Portal (Czech only), which will be launched on 1 August 2026 and will serve as a central electronic point for fulfilling the information obligations under the Critical Infrastructure Entities Resilience Act. Up-to-date information, methodological guidance and related legislation will be available on the portal.

Decree No 122/2026 will also enter into force on 1 August 2026, setting out the structure of the resilience plan, the risk assessment methodology, the procedures for establishing measures to ensure the resilience of critical infrastructure entities and the rules for reporting incidents.
